However, making sense of hundreds of books and thousands of studies is a complicated task, which is why many mistakenly think that leadership is an indefinable phenomenon. Some of us presume complete authority in our own favored ways. Novel leaders often discard the entire system used by the exiting leaders. In a catastrophic situation, persistence on individual style can be helpful; yet in a democratic culture, leaders don’t own the organization and must consider the right of the followers. Teams like that do not go very fast nor very far. People give but dont get much. Groups like that are normally ingrown and lack of sense mission. The groups led by the Consensus Take r will not make any decision unless everyone in the team come to an agreement. The politics of this kind of operation is subtle. People may try hard to feel where the wind blows and some influential people are needed to form the under-current. Groups with a leader with charisma and deep insight may benefit in using this approach. There are other disasters too where the group never come to a decision at all when the differences in opinion are amplified. Personal Character Growth You may have experienced that the way we are and do things are many times different from others, and conflicts arose because of these differences. We wished many times that other people are better developed in their character. Yet, we must know that others look at us in the same way. There remain, for most of us, a wide gap between what we wish we could be and what we are, possibly for a long long time. It is not possible that we work with all perfect people for we are all under development. It is important for us as leaders to keep developing our character.
